Federer Aims To Make Wimbledon Rivals Squirm

Roger Federer has vowed to make his opponents feel as uncomfortable as possible at Wimbledon 2016.

The entire world is relishing the prospect of Federer demonstrating his effortless grace on grass one more time.

But Roger is hoping to create the opposite effect in his rivals. And he aims to be in top shape for the start of the action at the All England Club.

Federer explained:’I just have to take the right decisions between now and the start of Wimbledon. And once the tournament gets going, I have to play the way I want to play – and that means with a positive, aggressive mindset.

‘Play the points my way and just be super-consistent, make the opponent feel uncomfortable.’

That will suit most tennis fans just fine. Federer is still the most treasured star in the sport.

His straight sets win over Andy Murray in the Wimbledon semi-finals last year was truly stunning.

And although he eventually lost to the magnificent Novak Djokovic, Federer proved that he was still a serious and worthy contender for the crown.

Judging by Roger’s recent fighting talk, he intends to come out with all guns blazing at Wimbledon 2016 too.

One thing he has worked out more quickly than Murray, for example, is that he can’t afford to get dragged into prolonged battles in the early rounds.

Not if he is to stand a realistic chance of remaining physically fresh enough to take down the big boys at the business end of Wimbledon 2016.

Sure, a couple of semi-final defeats in Stuttgart and Halle of late haven’t been ideal. But they were also to be expected, given that he had to sit out Roland Garros through injury.

Federer clearly feels that, with a little tweaking to his game, he can hit top gear just when it matters at the home of tennis.

He acknowledged: ‘If the movement gets better and then the baseline game improves a little bit, I’ll be better on the big points, on the return.

‘I’ve got work to do but I’ve got enough time before Wimbledon to be ready.’

And we’ll be ready too, to provide the perfect view for you to witness another year of Roger Federer magic at Wimbledon.

Who knows how many more years of the great man we can expect to enjoy, beyond Wimbledon 2016?

Watch him while you can. And if he is making those opponents squirm, it means he is back to his best.
