Wimbledon 2020: Where to Eat During Your Visit

Wimbledon

May 9, 2019

Are you planning to attend Wimbledon in 202o? A wide range of on-site and off-site food and drink options are available during The Championships to keep you full and focused during the games.

While Pimm’s and strawberries might be the order of the day, they’re probably not quite enough to fill you up after a day of tennis. In this blog post, we’ll share the best places to eat during Wimbledon.

Bringing your own food to Wimbledon

Feel like a packed lunch? There are no restrictions on the food you can bring with you to Wimbledon, making it easy to prepare your meals at home and bring them with you.

Note that your food must fit inside a 40cm x 30cm x 30cm soft-sided bag in order to be allowed into the event. Hard-sided bags and coolers aren’t allowed and must be kept in the left luggage area.

You’re also welcome to bring your own alcoholic drinks to Wimbledon, albeit with some restrictions. Visitors are limited to one bottle of wine or one litre of beer per person; alcohol must be consumed in public bars or other authorised areas.

Note that if you’re attending Wimbledon with a ticket purchased on-site or from the public ballot, you’ll need to give up your ticket upon leaving. Pack your lunch before you arrive or purchase food on-site; since you won’t be able to leave for lunch!

Where to eat during The Championships

A wide variety of restaurants, cafés and self-service eateries can be found during Wimbledon, with prices reasonable and meals tasty. There are also several bars, a food court and exclusive restaurants for Debenture Holders.

The Wingfield Restaurant

The Wingfield Restaurant serves table service luncheon and afternoon tea from the 1st floor of the Centre Court building. During the later stages of the tournament, the restaurant can fill up quickly. Book a table online to make sure you don’t miss out.

The Baseline Diner

The Baseline Diner serves sandwiches, burgers, salads, seafood and a wide variety of drinks. It’s home to two smaller restaurants – The Diner, which serves American classics and Canadian lobster, and Pizza Base, which serves classic Italian pizza. The Baseline Diner is easy to find: walk east from the centre court and turn towards the No. 2 court.

Conservatory Kitchen

This English Country outdoor dining area is a great place to enjoy lunch during The Championships. Sandwiches, wraps, warm meals and the famous strawberries and cream are all available, in addition to a full bar menu and fresh tea. The Conservatory Kitchen is open from 10:30 am until 7 pm and is located to the east of the No.1 Court.

Wimbledon Food Village

Wimbledon Food Village serves a variety of hot takeaway meals ranging from fish and chips to stir-fry. Located a short walk east of the Conservatory Kitchen, it’s one of the most convenient places to eat near the No.1 Court.

Aorangi Food Court

The Aorangi Food Court serves salads, sandwiches, tex mex and more. Located west of the No. 1 Court, it’s easy to find. The nearby Aorangi Café serves classic Southern fried chicken and light refreshments.

Long Bar & Champagne Bar

The Long Bar is located to the east of the Centre Court and serves a variety of cold drinks. Beside the tea lawn, you’ll find the Champagne Bar, which serves seafood, sandwiches, sushi and table service champagne. More information on dining options at Wimbledon can be found on the website of FM Catering.

Strawberries and cream at Wimbledon

Strawberries and cream are synonymous with Wimbledon, and no visit to the tennis is complete without a sweet and tasty afternoon tea. Last year, visitors tucked into a total of 30,000kg of strawberries and over 7,000 litres of cream. Grade 1 Kent strawberries are picked the day before the tennis and are available for just £2.50 from the Wingfield Restaurant, Conservatory Kitchen, Café Pergola and a variety of other food outlets within the grounds.

Whether you bring food from home or dine out during the tennis, you’ll struggle to go hungry at Wimbledon. In addition to the restaurants and cafés listed above, there are several food stands and “grab and go” outlets operating within the grounds.

So there you have it. From the show courts to the outside courts Wimbledon is a fantastic event that everyone should attend at least once. Are you ready to enjoy the championships this year? Buy Tickets.
